As the Coppa Italia final approaches, Inter Milan captain Lautaro Martinez has opened up about his mindset and the team’s preparations. In an exclusive interview with Slow Motion, the Argentine striker shared his thoughts on the upcoming clash against Lazio, his current form, and the pursuit of a historic domestic double for the Nerazzurri.

“It’s been two years since we last won this trophy or reached the final. We’ve had an outstanding season and fully deserve our place in the final. It will be a tough match—Lazio are tactically disciplined and packed with quality players. It’s set to be a thrilling contest. Right now, we’re fine-tuning the last details to ensure we are at our best,” Martinez said.

Asked about the potential risk of complacency after securing the Serie A title, Martinez dismissed the notion. “I wouldn’t call it a challenge to overcome. Winning the league required immense effort—it was a crucial target for us. But the Coppa Italia is a different competition; everything hinges on this one final. It’s a single-elimination match, so we must be ready for anything. We’ll give everything to bring the trophy home.”

On his personal condition, Martinez expressed confidence. “I feel great. My performance against Parma was just average, but I trained really hard the following week. The 60 minutes I played a few days ago helped a lot, and so did the last two training sessions. We’ve focused on tactical moves and covered every aspect, so I hope to deliver a strong performance tomorrow, both technically and physically.”

Martinez also welcomed back teammate Marcus Thuram, who has fully recovered from a minor injury scare. “I hope so! We are a very balanced team. Every unit—from defense to midfield—knows exactly what to do. That’s why it’s so important for every player to be in top shape. Only then can we take on a strong opponent like Lazio.”

Reflecting on the chance to achieve a domestic double, something Inter has never done before, Martinez noted, “Yes, it’s true. It’s been a long time since Inter won the double. We’re aware of that, but the most important thing is to prepare as thoroughly as possible for this final. It’s crucial for all of us.”
