KB Insurance has secured Linus Weber (27), one of the most sought-after players in the men’s foreign player draft. The Korean Volleyball Federation (KOVO) held the 2026-2027 V-League men’s foreign player draft on May 10 (local time) at the Clarion Congress Hotel Prague in the Czech Republic. Among the seven men’s teams, four opted to pick new foreign players. The biggest attention was on German opposite spiker (right side) Weber, who was selected by KB Insurance.

KB Insurance decided not to renew contracts with Andres Villena, who had been the team’s offensive anchor. Villena was consistently strong in the regular season. In the 2025-2026 regular season, he ranked second in scoring with 829 points and averaged 23.03 points per game. In the 2024-2025 season, he was first in scoring with 846 points and averaged 24.17 points per game, performing at an elite level.

However, Villena’s performance in the postseason left much to be desired. In the 2025-2026 season’s single-elimination playoff, he scored just 11 points. In the 2024-2025 playoffs, he only managed 47 points in three games, averaging 15.67 points per game—a significant drop from his regular-season output. Seeking a change, KB Insurance turned to Weber.

Weber attracted interest from multiple clubs during the draft. Standing at 204 cm, he is praised for his powerful attacks and solid fundamentals. “He’s the most noticeable player among the draft participants,” said Seok Jin-wook, head coach of Korea Electric Power Corporation. “He moves intelligently. He’s a player who knows how to play volleyball,” praised Shin Young-chul, head coach of OK Savings Bank.

Ha Hyun-yong, acting head coach of KB Insurance, expressed high expectations for Weber. “I value Weber’s fundamentals. His hitting form is clean, and his serves are sharp,” Ha commented. Weber himself said, “I’m looking forward to new experiences. I will definitely succeed in the V-League.”

OK Savings Bank selected Kyle Russell, who played for Korean Air last season. Samsung Fire & Marine Insurance chose Felipe Hoki, and Korean Air picked Jander Ketzynski. Korea Electric Power Corporation re-signed Sheron Vernon Evans (registered name Vernon), Woori Card re-signed Rafael Araujo, and Hyundai Capital re-signed Leonardo Leyva Martinez (registered name Leo), keeping their existing foreign players for another season.
